The Happening

BLINK! Blink goddammit!

Yeah, I know… welcome to 2008!  My Netflix queue got a bit boring so I decided to put on some movies that I really had no desire to watch.  This was the first – and it has made me rethink this idea completely

New Mortal Kombat Movie?

Posted in Gaming, Movies with tags on June 10, 2010 by earlddyer

Thanks Scott for posting this.  The original movie wasn’t that great, though it was dumb fun.  I’ve also never really been huge on the games.  So I really hope that this is a teaser for an up-coming movie, because it just looks badass.

Kick Ass (The Review This Time)

Posted in Movies with tags , on April 16, 2010 by earlddyer

MindySo I decided that I was going to see this no matter what anyone said.  I didn’t listen to Jeff Vice’s review, I only checked Rotten Tomatoes once, and I saw one friend post his thoughts about it.  After that, I decided I was going to avoid the media’s thoughts until after I had seen it.

Kick Ass

Posted in Movies with tags on April 12, 2010 by earlddyer

Kick AssSo Kick Ass is a comic book.  It is a messed up comic book.  If you thought Watchmen was bad with the blue nudity and violence, you ain’t seen nothing yet.  This movie is full of blood, violence and a little girl who makes Samuel L. Jackson in Pulp Fiction look like a puppy.

Like many comic books, they’ve decided to adapt it to a movie.  The problem is that the advertisements I’ve seen on television are completely depicting this movie as something that it is not.  It is making it look like it is going to be a comedy with “McLovin” walking around in a cape.  It’s not.  It is very much not.

So if you want to see what the movie REALLY is… click this link and put in your fake information including a DOB that says you are 18.  Then you can find out what it’s all about.  I warn you that it isn’t appropriate for work or children so keep that in mind.

How to Train Your Dragon

DragonSo I made a “promise” (though unwritten and unspoken and not really true) that I was going to go and see the new Clash of the Titans on Friday.  I was pretty excited for it because the original Clash of the Titans was one of my favorite movies when I was younger.  I always loved learning, studying or just being entertained by the mythical side of things.  However, after reading pretty much EVERY site saying how bad it was, I decided not to waste my money.  I usually don’t set much stock in what critics say, but when every site is saying the same thing, you know it’s gotta be true.  I’ll save it for Netflix.

Condoms at Wal Mart and Now THIS?

Bulletproof VestSo how would you feel about being able to wear clothing that can help protect you from bullets, knives and even ultra-violet light while feeling as comfortable as cotton?  Scientists from the US, Switzerland and China are on the track of making this happen.

Scientists have been working on combining the carbon fibers from cotton and boron to create boron carbide.  They believe that they may be able to use this technology to create lightweight protective gear for soldiers and police, lightweight, fuel-efficient vehicles and even lighter aircrafts.

The steps we take in science often amaze me.  I know that many times the things scientists try to create never come to fruition, but it looks like they are already on their way to making this protective material.

Sherlock Holmes and Legion

Elementary!

So I had the chance to see Sherlock Holmes and Legion today.  With half a dozen or so little girls running around my house to celebrate my daughter’s birthday (a day early, mind you) I felt it was a good a time as any to hit up the theater.
