These are a few of my favorite games…

When the dog bites, when the… wait.

Games are a part of everyone’s life.  No one can deny it.  Whether you’re a hardcore gamer that does it all the time, maybe even professionally, or you’re a noob who can barely control the mouse while shooting with the keyboard, or even a person that prefers board games or mind games… games are here to stay.  I decided I wanted to talk about some of my favorite games thus far in life.  There are a lot of games, but these are the games I am willing to play at almost any time.

GuitarHeroGuitar Hero was my first “musical experience” as far as the games go.  I bought the original Guitar Hero when it came out, and I now own almost every single Guitar Hero that has come out since.  Yes, they are exploiting me because they know I will pay $50 to get Guitar Hero: Bruce Springsteen or Guitar Hero: Yoko Ono (okay, maybe not).  But that’s my problem and I am happy to deal with it.  Once they added drums and vocals (I am not getting into an argument about Rock Band vs Guitar Hero) it just made it that much better.  Great to play alone and with friends and family.  I haven’t yet bought into things like Band Hero or DJ Hero, but who knows.

LifeThis is one I haven’t played in a long time.  Not because I don’t enjoy it, but because I do not own it.  But I am pretty damn certain I wore the wheel off of the LIFE game that my parents have because I played it so much.  Nothing was better than going to school, getting a job, getting married and having kids, then having the ability to just dump your pieces back in the box.  I am going to have to go and find this, hopefully it is still available to be purchased.  I think my kids would love it.

CallofDutyThis game didn’t present itself to me fully until Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare came out.  I loved that game and played it to death.  Sadly, I didn’t even realize the multiplayer potential because I merely rented the game.  When Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 game out, I was all over it.  I played it quickly and I played it a lot.  The multiplayer is one of the best multiplayer games out there and I love it.  I’ve started to explore other Call of Duty titles including World at War and will try out all of them just to see the great stories and gameplay.

Phase10Probably the most addicted set of cards you’ll ever find.  I wasn’t much of an Uno fan, but I love playing this game and so does the rest of my family.  We can play for hours on end if we have the time.  Even if you don’t win every hand, you can easily win the entire game.  And even if you win a lot, you can lose.  What’s better than that!?  10 phases isn’t even nearly enough, they need to come up with Phase 100 or something.  THAT would be fun.

BicycleCardsAhmigod!  Two card games in one post! Yes, good old cards are just about the perfect thing when it comes to boredom.  You can play multiple versions of solitaire by yourself, or challenge others to dozens of games.  My wife and I used to waste away hours playing War and other card games.  This is another thing I am going to have to reintroduce.

Whatever you enjoy doing, keep doing it.  As you can see, some of the games I really enjoy I don’t play much anymore.  That ain’t cool.

P.S. Yes, I know WoW is not in the list.
